Genoa is a city with an overwhelming charm, squeezed between the mountains and the sea and with a past as a crossroads of different peoples and cultures that several poets, writers and singer-songwriters have recounted.
Overlooking the Ligurian Sea, it was the capital of one of the maritime republics from 1099 to 1797, becoming one of the largest naval powers on the continent. Still today a major economic center, a university, scientific, cultural, musical and artistic hub of great importance, it boasts a historic center that unfolds among the enchanting caruggi, the narrow alleys flanked by the high external walls of the houses.
Capital of delicious pesto and good food, it is home to numerous industrial activities, but also to some of the most important tourist and trade fair events in the country.
The port is among the main Mediterranean and European ports.
From Brignole Train Station till Boccadasse beach.
The construction of the Genova Brignole Station was completed in 1905 although the surrounding area was arranged at a later time.
Piazza della vittoria was built in the 1930s by the architect Marcello Piacentini on a green area that had been created in 1892. It was created at the beginning of the 20th century to honor Italy's victory in the First World War. At the center of the square stands the Arch of Victory which represents the Monument to the Fallen of the Great War and the steps with the sloping lawn, where the three caravels have been drawn with flowers, represent the Monument to the Unknown Soldier. The stairway of the three caravels opens in front of the majestic Arch of Victory and consists of two airy ramps separated by a sloping flowerbed on several levels. The flowerbed is divided into three sections, plus a fourth decorated with stylised anchors; these three "under-flowerbeds" have floral decorations depicting the three caravels of Christopher Columbus.
From there we continue for a splendid view from the Belvedere di Carignano over the entire city reaching the Mura delle Cappuccine from which we will descend through the Francesco Coco gardens to reach Via Brigate Partigiane and Piazzale Kennedy and arrive in Corso Italia to finish the tour in Boccadasse.
The Mura delle Cappuccine are part of the medieval walls of the city, a walk develops on it with numerous panoramic points from which to admire the city from above. In our descent towards the sea we will arrive in Piazzale Kennedy, home to major events in Genoa and we will walk in Corso Italia. This street has always been the promenade, the meeting place for the Sunday "stroll" of the Genoese, dotted with clubs and beach resorts. It is also the area of the city beaches and historic sports centers. Boccadasse is the most famous of the ancient fishing villages still visible in Genoa, between Corso Italia and Capo Santa Chiara. Its characteristic houses, stone steps, fishing boats and nets on the small beach.
