Описание: Our unforgettable Antarctic journey aboard Atlas World Voyager reached a magical milestone — our very first landing in Antarctica at Barrientos Island in the Aitcho Islands! ❄️🐧

After sailing for 1.5 days across the Drake Passage, the excitement on the Atlas World Voyager was unreal. And on this special Thanksgiving Day, Antarctica welcomed us perfectly — with morning snowfall that cleared just in time for our landing.

We enjoyed a warm Thanksgiving lunch on the ship and then boarded our first Atlas zodiac for the ride to Aitcho. The moment our boots touched Antarctic ground… pure happiness!

The best part?
Seeing gentoo and chinstrap penguins in their natural habitat — so close, so adorable, and so full of personality. This was my first time seeing penguins in the wild, and the feeling was indescribable. We followed all Antarctic wildlife rules and kept a respectful distance, appreciating that we were truly guests in their world.

About Barrientos Island:
Part of the Aitcho group in the South Shetland Islands, Barrientos Island is about 1.7 km long with dramatic cliffs, black-sand beaches, and fragile moss-covered interiors. It’s home to vibrant colonies of gentoo and chinstrap penguins, skuas, giant petrels, kelp gulls, and seals that frequently rest along the shores. The island was first visited by sealers in the early 1800s and later named by a Chilean Antarctic expedition.
