How to Season Cast Iron Cookware

Wash the Cast Iron: With a sponge or hard brush, wash the Cast Iron in soft, soapy water. Cast iron isn't supposed to be cleaned with soap, but because the pan is about to be seasoned, it's perfect.
Rinse and dry: Using a clean, dry cloth or paper towels, rinse and properly dry the skillet.
Add oil: Fill the Cast Iron with a little vegetable oil or molten shortening. A tablespoon or two would suffice. The most widely recommended oils for seasoning are vegetable oil and shortening, but Lodge says you can use whatever oil you choose.
Rub: Rub the coat over the whole Cast Iron with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Flip the Cast Iron over: Don't forget about the Cast Iron's exterior— and bottom.
Bake the Cast Iron: Invert the Cast Iron on the middle rack of the oven. To collect some drips, place a piece of aluminum foil underneath the shelf. 1 hour in the oven
Let the Cast Iron cool: Before extracting the skillet from the oven, turn off the heat and let it cool out. You're ready to go until it's cooled down!
