In this yoga therapy practice, we explore shoulder movement within standing yoga poses to build body awareness, improve mobility, and reduce unnecessary tension. Instead of focusing on achieving a perfect shape, this session invites you to notice what you’re actually feeling and experiment with different shoulder positions to find what works best for your body.
Through guided exploration, you’ll develop interoception (awareness of internal sensations) and proprioception (awareness of where your body is in space). By varying arm and shoulder placement in common standing poses, you may discover ways to reduce strain in the neck and upper back, improve shoulder stability, and create more ease in your practice.
This practice is ideal if you experience shoulder tension, stiffness, or discomfort in standing poses, or if you’re interested in a more personalized, therapeutic approach to yoga.
Move with curiosity, not perfection, and learn how small adjustments in your shoulders can change your entire experience of a pose.
