After posting my video, “I can never be a hijabi,” 90% of the comments claimed that I am a reverted Muslim because I married my husband from another religion, even though I pinned a comment clearly explaining who I actually am. Some people think that Muslim women are treated as slaves by their husbands. Others have left offensive comments saying Muslim women are to be killed and kept in freezers, while some claim that The Kerala Story is real.
Here’s my response to all your questions and assumptions so far:
I am not a reverted Muslim. I was born and brought up in a Muslim family, and so were my ancestors. We have always been proud to be Muslim. As for my husband, he was also born and raised in a Muslim family. So yes, I married someone from the same religion.
In Islam, women hold a high status in this world and the hereafter. Muslim women are strong, determined, and the backbone of the family.
• As Mothers:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Paradise lies at the feet of your mother.”
• As Wives:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also said:
“The best of you are the best to their wives.”
• In Society:
Muslim women have contributed greatly to society as scholars, businesswomen, and leaders. For example:
• Khadijah (RA), the Prophet’s wife, was a successful businesswoman.
• Aisha (RA) was a prominent scholar and a teacher of hadith.
I hope this clears up your misconceptions. Women should be respected in all religions. Like any other religion, Islam also has good and bad individuals. Please don’t judge an entire religion based on the actions of a few.
‼️ Muslim women deserve respect. Please don’t think less of them.
