Our race westward continues with a long 860nm passage from the island of Malta, located between the Sicily and the continent of Africa, to Cartagena, Spain. Following a breakage of our electric mainsail furler, we make landfall at Villasimius, on the southern tip of Sardinia, for repairs, then head over to Teulada as a launching point for completion of our route.
Crossing the entirety of the Med proper takes us through 480nm of open sea, and of course a long trip like this couldn’t pass without some form of drama, in this case losing our 24v alternator and the battery charging that goes with it. But such is life.
However, the seas and skies don’t disappoint, and although we’re faced with some motoring, once the winds pick up the sailing is amazing.
