Michigan State University’s Joan Rose helps communities better understand their impact on local waterways and groundwater systems. Rose is the Homer Nowlin Chair in Water Research at Michigan State and was the 2016 recipient of the Stockholm Water Prize. World Water Day, held on March 22 every year since 1993, raises awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water.
