Описание: Chlorastrolite, also known as Isle Royale Greenstone, is a green or bluish-green stone with finely radiating or stellate masses forming a "turtleback" pattern, often exhibiting a varying luster known as chatoyancy. It is a variety of pumpellyite and was once mistaken for prehnite or thomsonite. Found in basalt structures and beach sediments in the Keweenaw Peninsula and Isle Royale in Lake Superior, it's illegal to collect in the latter due to its status as a National Park. Gem-quality specimens are usually small, with the largest known stone housed in the Smithsonian Museum. First described in 1847, it is Michigan's official state gem. Other names include Green Starstone, Turtle Back, and Uigite, with confusion arising from misnomers like Zonochlorite, often sold as faux chlorastrolite.
