The big improvement comes from new silicon carbide inverters, which help the i4 eDrive40 achieve up to 333 miles of range on 18-inch wheels—about 15 miles more than before. On 19-inch wheels, it manages 307 miles.
There's also a new top-performance trim, now called the i4 M60, replacing the old M50. It packs a hefty 593 horsepower and sprints from zero to 60 in just 3.6 seconds. Even with the extra power, this model adds a few more miles to its range—up to 11 extra depending on wheel size.
BMW kept the same 83.4 kilowatt-hour battery across the lineup, with 200-kilowatt fast charging that can add nearly 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. However, the all-wheel-drive i4 xDrive40 sees a drop in range, now estimated between 268 and 287 miles.
The updated 2026 i4 is already available to order in the U.S., and includes a few added features like a tire repair kit and enhanced Park Assist tech.
