On a summers evening in June, we were expecting a balmy Sunday night watching the man of the moment paying a rare visit to the south.
Nothing could have been further from the truth. In the afternoon a absolute deluge in Cardiff meant we all spent the afternoon hiding in the pubs before venturing up to the castle.
It is fair to say that we all got soaked through to the skins, i don't ever remembering being that wet, there wasn't a dry thread on me.
It eased off in the early evening but came back with a vengeance, there are some videos on youtube from the main cameras that showed the full extent. But as always in Cardiff, the crowd were undeterred because Wales had just qualified for the World Cup and were in party mood.
The video is an assembly of the clips I caught on my phone and illustrate what a great night it was.
