In this video, I did a tutorial on How to Make an Effective Canadian-Style Resume. Particularly, this is intended for people outside of Canada like the foreign workers who want to apply for jobs in Canada.
I gave them tips on how to make a simple but effective resume, which are:
tailor your resume to the need of the job you are applying
you don't have to write everything, highlight the most important
keep it shorth, only 1 to 2 pages
write only the best experiences
include only the recent jobs, up to 15 years only
use simple, descriptive words, active verbs
check your grammar and spelling
proof read several times
I copied a job from www.jobbank.gc.ca (General Farm Worker) and made a simple resume for this job. I emphasized here that an effective resume should match the job they are applying for. That it should contain keywords that are from the job posting itself.
