This week, JJ introduces us to Raphi, one of the Academy Trainer’s horses! This particular exercise helps Raphi bend both sides of his body, stabilize the connection, and helps him learn to swing through both sides of his back. It is also another excellent precursor for the flying changes.
Raphi also likes to‘ run off’ in the walk, which gives JJ an excellent opportunity to remind us that the horse must wait for us before we do anything else. As always, JJ gives clear, in-depth explanations of the aids for both the half-pass and the leg yield, while showing the exercise in the walk, posting trot, and school trot.
