When we demonstrate techniques in our self-defense YouTube videos, we often get a response that goes along these lines... "I would just use my keys to hurt my attacker".

In theory, using your keys for your personal protection seems like a great plan.

The problem with that common believe is that your keys might not be on your hands when you get attacked by someone, thus trying to pull them out while you're being attacked aggressively, might not be the easiest thing to do.

When looking to use keys for self-defense, there is another important thing to point out. And that is that if you don't know how to strike properly, having keys in your hands won't do much.

If you can't throw a proper punch, how do you expect landing a proper strike with your keys?

It just won't land, and that is a problem (for you).

With that said, there are ways that you can place your keys in your hands to make the maximum damage to an assailant.

Keys can be a powerful self-defense tool if used correctly.
