Columns of smoke rise from the Syrian city of Ras al-Ain, targeted by intense Turkish fire. Ankara had announced on Saturday it had taken the city, but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Sunday that Kurdish forces had pushed back Turkish troops and their Syrian allies.
