Speeding After a Fight With Her Boyfriend Leads to DUI Arrest in California

Описание: On October 14, 2025, California Highway Patrol officers monitoring traffic in Smith River on Highway 101 observed a blue Ford Mustang leaving the Lucky 7 Fuel Mart parking lot at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the Mustang onto North Indian Road and measured its speed at 52 miles per hour in a posted 25-mile-per-hour zone. The Mustang was also weaving and crossed over the double-yellow lines before CHP initiated a traffic stop on Dat-Naa-Sut Road. During the initial contact, an officer noticed what appeared to be a tan semiautomatic pistol lying on the front passenger seat. The driver said the pistol was fake and that she had forgotten it was inside the vehicle. Officers determined that it was an Airsoft BB pistol and also found a THC vape cartridge and battery in the center console. The driver told officers she was speeding because she was upset following a fight with her boyfriend. She also admitted smoking marijuana at the beach shortly before driving to the gas station. The driver displayed slow movements, red and watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. During field sobriety testing, officers reported observing balance problems, eyelid tremors, lack of convergence and difficulty following several test instructions. The driver refused a preliminary roadside alcohol screening test. After her arrest, two chemical breath tests reportedly produced results of 0.01%. She was then transported to Sutter Coast Hospital for a blood draw. The driver was then booked into the County Jail on the following charge:
