Roadtrip from Kamieskroon to Enjo Nature Farm

Описание: Approaching the final few days of a marvellous road trip, we were once again spoiled by the endless horizons and raw beauty of the Karoo. It can be a bit of a downer when a trip comes to an end, however, we take comfort in the thought that our final stop at Enjo Nature Farm turned out to be such a highlight and a splendid conclusion indeed!

The tarred road from Kamieskroon to Clanwilliam, took us through the hamlet of Garies, where we kicked off with a steaming hot chocolate from the multi coloured food truck parked on the main road. We spent some time wondering through the town before visiting "Garies Toeriste Stal" to stock up on some "padkos" for the road ahead.

Next up was the little settlement of Bitterfontein, probably best known as the bulkhead for the end of the railway line from Cape Town in years gone by. The improvements in road transport regrettably resulted in the demise of the rail system and the railway station is now only a sad remain of an active hub.

After a whistle stop in the small town of Nuwerus and witnessing the massive earthworks at the Soutrivier bridge, we took the R364 from Clanwilliam for the final stretch of the day to Enjo Nature Farm. After some distance on a winding tarred road through spectacular rock formations, we where delighted to be on dirt again for the final 25km.

We drove into Enjo Farm just before sunset and were spoiled with the most amazing light, bathing the area in a soft yellow glow. The end of yet another fabulous day in the Karoo.
