Antioch High School tragedy: Shooter's mother wanted for gun charge

Описание: A year after the tragic events at Antioch High School, investigators have confirmed that 17-year-old Solomon Henderson acted alone in the murder-suicide.

On Jan. 22, 2025, Henderson entered the school's cafeteria and fired ten shots from a nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol, killing 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante and injuring another student.

In searching for a motive, detectives analyzed on-line material left by Henderson including writings on websites and journal entries. Police say Henderson was influenced by extremist material online and idolized mass murderers. The investigation into the shooting resulted in no criminal prosecution.

However, Henderson's mother, Chrysta Thomas, 40, is facing serious legal trouble. An arrest warrant has been issued for her on a charge of unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon. Her DNA was found on the weapon used in the shooting, and she has a 2010 felony conviction for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police say Henderson’s family moved out of their home on Carefree Lane in Antioch to an unknown destination a short time after the school shooting. Thomas' name has been entered into the FBI's system for nationwide extradition, as authorities continue to search for her whereabouts.
