Betamax was quite a bit more popular in Finland than in the rest of Europe. This is why local publishers, back in the eighties, also tended to release their content on Beta cassettes too. This one is alo such a cassette.
Despite being an 1987 recording, it lacks Hi-Fi audio and (of course) SuperBeta. That is, it's plain standard PAL Beta II.
Transfer / converter Chain:
1, Sony SL-HF950 Super Betamax HiFi Videorecorder (PAL & SECAM; in very good technical condition)
2, Canopus ADVC-110
3, direct Firewire connection to my mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" running Windows 11 and WinDV,
4, FCPX, 720p50 export, stock bob deinterlacing
This is the second proper (that is, 50p) grab of the same cassette I know of. The other 50p one is a significantky shorter (cut) one at • Jyväskylän Suurajot/1000 Lakes Rally Finla... . All the other transfers are 25p only and are, therefore, a LOT choppier.
