“Do not be anxious about your life.”
(Matt 6:25) Not because problems are fake, but because worry can’t add time to your life. (Matt 6:27) It only burns the hour you’re in. Jesus points at birds and flowers. They don’t hoard. They don’t pace. Your Father feeds and clothes them. “Are you not of more value than they?” (Matt 6:26, 28–30) That’s the logic: if God cares for them, he hasn’t forgotten you. He said this to people living day to day. Real bills. Real pressure. And he gives an order, not a lecture: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matt 6:33) Seek first means set your priorities before your panic. Scene: late night, screen glow, same three tabs open—news, bank, that one email you keep dodging. “Five more minutes” turns into “fifty.” No solutions. Just a tight chest and a heavy morning. That’s anxiety’s business model: charge your time, deliver nothing. Jesus isn’t asking you to ignore rent, work, or meals. He’s telling you to stop trying to live tomorrow’s fight with today’s strength. “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matt 6:34) So here’s a way to live this, not just nod at it.
