Freelance journalist and adult preemie Meagan Gillmore shares her experiences of the NICU and shares her thoughts about the stories we are told and the stories we tell about prematurity.
Meagan Gillmore, who was born preterm, is a freelance journalist and writer based in Toronto. Her work has appeared on the CBC, TVO.org, The Toronto Star, the Walrus, TEACH Magazine, Faith Today, and various other publications. She also covers disability accessibility and inclusion for Accessible Media Inc.'s audio programs. Previously, she has worked as a reporter in Whitehorse, Yukon, as well as a copy-editor in Saint John, New Brunswick. In her spare time, she can be found reading, cooking, listening to podcasts, bingeing unrealistic TV shows with her roommate, exploring new potato chip flavors, and trying to be a cool aunt to her nephews and niece.
