A nationwide survey was conducted to find out if this was a local problem or a problem across the board. The survey should the 97% of Emergency physicians are seeing frequently presenting patients. 91% of physicians say that this is a problem for them.

Emergency room physicians are feeling burn out, because they are faced with "medical issues" such as homelessness, lack of transportation, and unaffordable medication. 70% of physicians stated that there is a need for a social program to help deal with this issue.
