Sometimes the right lure makes all the difference. After catching plenty of bass on a spinnerbait, I switched to a plastic worm when I hit a deep pool in Alabama’s Talladega National Forest—and it paid off with the biggest Coosa Bass of the trip! In this video, I break down the classic identifying features of the Coosa Bass, the original “redeye bass” first described back in the 1940s, now recognized as its own unique species.
This marks my third big redeye bass of the year—Bartram’s, Chattahoochee, and now Coosa—an incredible journey across native bass waters of the Southeast. If you love native fish, creek fishing, and learning bass ID tips, this one’s for you!
