Mr. Randhir Singh, resident of Jakh, Jammu, a progressive organic dragon fruit grower, shared his practical experiences and success story during an interactive “Walk and Talk” session with Prof. Parshant Bakshi, Head, Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST–Jammu, on 16 December 2025.
During the field interaction, Mr. Singh highlighted his journey towards organic cultivation of dragon fruit, discussing crop establishment, nutrient and canopy management practices, use of organic inputs, and the economic viability of this emerging fruit crop under local agro-climatic conditions. He also shared the challenges faced during initial stages and the solutions adopted through scientific guidance and innovative farm practices.
Prof. Bakshi appreciated Mr. Singh’s efforts emphasized the importance of farmer–scientist interaction for promoting sustainable, climate-resilient, and income-generating fruit crops like dragon fruit in the Jammu region. The “Walk and Talk” in hindi served as an effective platform for exchange of knowledge, on-field problem solving, and strengthening the linkage between research and progressive farmers.
