Описание: Limited edition print: "5. Profile of the Artist's Wife", published in 1972 by Richard Nathanson (1947 - 2018). Printed in 1972 by Will Carter (1912 - 2001) directly from the woodblock carving (Woodcut 5) of Arthur Segal (1875 - 1944), who carved this particular woodblock on the Baltic in 1912.
This is number 58 of 80 similar stamped edition prints with the title: "5. Profile of the Artist's Wife". The medium is printers ink on a bespoke wove paper made by J. Barcham Green Ltd, unique to the 1972 editioning of Arthur's woodcuts. The publisher instructed J. Barcham Green Ltd to use the unique watermark of the artist's signature: "a. Segal" on each sheet. Sheets may vary slightly in size due to the deckle edges of the hand made paper.
Number 58/80 measures 58.2 x 38.9 cm with the central impression (printed image) measuring: 27.4 x 20 cm.
Number 58/80 has been in the possession of the publisher and now Nathanson Fine Art since 1972 along with the original woodblock carving by Arthur Segal (Woodcut 5).
No further prints have been made from Arthur's carving since 1972.
The 1972 limited edition of "5. Profile of the Artist's Wife" may be the only examples of prints from Arthur's carving (Woodcut 5) that exist.
