Consultant Shoulder & Elbow Surgeon Mr. Nick Ferran exaplins what cubital tunnel syndrome is and describes what a cubital tunnel decompression entails. A cubital tunnel decompression is also referred to as an ulnar nerve release.
Cubital tunnel syndrome occurs at the elbow causes shooting pain down to the little and ring fingers of the hand, numbness or pins and needles in the ring and little finger of the hand, and can cause weakness in the hand and weak grip. This is caused by pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow in the cubital tunnel. A cubital tunnel decompression or cubital tunnel release is a procedure to release pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow.
