Mom, Am I Garbage?
The Brave Journey of 5-Year-Old Leo: A Runaway Story (Inspired by True Events)
"Mom, where did I come from?" When five-year-old Leo asks this simple question, his mother makes a joke that changes everything: "We found you in the garbage."
To an adult, it's just a joke; to Leo, it’s the truth . When he later hears his mother talking about throwing away "old, noisy garbage" (referring to a broken radio), Leo believes he is being replaced . Brave and heartbroken, he puts on his yellow raincoat, packs his one-eared teddy bear, and begins a solo journey to his grandma’s house.
Along the way, Leo discovers that he isn't "garbage" at all. He meets Grace, a tired worker who also feels useless, and shows her that everyone can be a "king" to someone else. This moving story explores the power of words, the weight of a child's heart, and the true meaning of being a "treasure."
This "Slow English" story is designed for English learners to improve listening and vocabulary in a natural, real-life context. You will learn words related to winter, emergencies, and family life.
