The convoy, escorted by security forces, was transporting rice supplies when Kuki women allegedly attempted to block the vehicles. Officials said security personnel used non-lethal measures to clear the road before militants opened fire from nearby hill areas. A security personnel was also injured in the incident. Yumnam Khemchand Singh condemned the attack, accusing vested interests of trying to disrupt peace in the state. The incident comes amid ongoing tensions linked to the unresolved hostage crisis and highway blockades involving Kuki and Naga groups.
