Over the past two weeks, I’ve been exploring what the new Curriculum and Assessment Review might mean for those of us working with Early Years and primary music. The Review highlights breadth, curiosity, play, developmental alignment and teacher creativity — all the things we know are at the heart of powerful musical learning.

But there’s something else I’ve been thinking about too:
we’re not always great at telling the story of what we do.

In this video, I share why our gentle, thoughtful, high-quality musical practice needs to be more visible — not in a loud or competitive way, but in a clear, confident, child-centred way. Because if we don’t speak up for the value of musical learning, others may continue to overlook it.
