In this video, we are joined by one of the greats in South African journalism. The man who was on our TV screens every Sunday as the host of Carte Blanche, Derek Watts. He is interviewed by Jason Goliath, in Fourways Mall, Johannesburg, and in true The Man Cave SA fashion, there is a collection of some of the best and brightest cars on display.
Derek Watts shares his history before being one of the most recognisable faces on South African Television. He was born in Johannesburg, and then his family moved to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia), when he was five years old and grew up there.
When he was older, he enlisted in the Rhodesian army, he left, and came back to South Africa and his journey into Journalism came together as if it were fate. He reflects on his 32-year career as a Carte Blanche investigative journalist.
