The Gauteng Health Department is in the process of reviewing and proposing new tariff adjustments for hospitals. Current rates are determined by the Uniform Patient Fee Schedule, which uses the 'means test' to determine who can afford to contribute while also protecting the indigent. Gauteng Health Revenue Management Director, Emma Mathibedi elaborates.
