Prince Harry climbs into a Spitfire at Goodwood

Prince Harry got a taste of what it was like being a Spitfire pilot as he sat in the cockpit of one of iconic planes at the Boultbee Flight Academy in Goodwood. He was there to launch the Spitfire Flight Scholarship for injured ex-servicemen and took the opportunity to climb aboard one of the wartime aircrafts. He then posed for photographers before signing the cockpit door. The Royal then met injured soldiers and RAF pilots involved with Flying For Freedom, which has helped to train servicemen to become microlight pilots. The 29-year old was also joined by Spitfire veterans as they launched the flight scholarship, which is part of the Endeavour Fund, created to help injured soldiers rediscover their self-belief through physical challenges. This summer, a team of six candidates will be chosen to begin flight training to mirror that of Second World War pilot veterans. Report by Lauren Hood.
