When the Bled Agreement finally sanctioned Hungary's open rearmament, the Royal Hungarian Army attempted to rapidly modernize. Their efforts first focused on motorization, using foreign and domestic designs.
The most successful domestic product was the 38M Botond, which fully satisfied the need for a cross country personnel carrier.
