There is no safety for survivors without economic security. Economic and physical safety go hand-in-hand, and effective individual advocacy requires organizational support, cross-sector partnerships, and an eye for systems change. The purpose of this webinar is to prepare advocates, attorneys, and programs to engage in multilevel, survivor centered economic advocacy. It will also lay the groundwork for attendees to engage in an upcoming series of Consumer Rights Training Toolkits, a webinar series that is part of CSAJ’s Consumer Rights for Survivors of Domestic & Sexual Violence Initiative.
Faculty will engage webinar attendees in discussion and a case study in order to:
1) Familiarize attendees with the Guidebook on Consumer & Economic Civil Legal Advocacy for Survivors as a tool for survivor centered economic advocacy
2) Lay out the foundations of the link between economic insecurity and violence
3) Review the landscape of multilevel, survivor centered economic advocacy
4) Preview the structure of upcoming Consumer Rights Training Toolkits
Faculty:
Katie VonDeLinde, Adjunct Faculty, Washington University, Brown School of Social Work & CSAJ Expert Advisor
Erika Sussman, Executive Director, Center for Survivor Agency & Justice
Hosted by: Sara Wee, Director of Programs & Research, Center for Survivor Agency & Justice
