Poland and Germany are set to sign a new bilateral defense agreement June 17.
"We know that Germany is rearming. There’s a massive defense boom there," Maciej Kisilowski, Associate Professor at Central European University, said on World Talks. This marks yet another agreement set to be signed this year, as Poland recently approved a treaty with the U.K.
"Poland needs alternative protections and alternative bilateral alliances because NATO is shaky," Kisilowski said. Many new problems stem from the uncertain alliance with the U.S., which under President Donald Trump wants Europe to take responsibility for its own defense.
