Day 8 of 30 Series 3 Punctuality works both ways
Hey chaps, welcome back to Day 8 of the 30 day program of the tutoring tips and
tricks, series 3.
And today we're going to be talking about Punctuality working both ways. In a
preparation as a tutor is really important. Arriving on time, polished and looking and
dressing the part and all that kind of stuff. But punctuality with your students really
does work both ways. I've had instances in the past where I'm waiting for 15
minutes outside the door, because I'm knocking and the client is not yet arrived yet
to back to his own home. Again punctuality has to be an expectation, if you're going
to turn up on time an expectation is part of the student as well. I'm not really, not a
believer in letting little things slip, because it's a slippery slope that you walk down
and it soon becomes an entrenched standard that they're always late.
So really just try and make sure that they are coming on time for you. And if they
say, 'Sorry, I'm really sorry, it won't happen again." I'd say, "Awesome, please,
that'll be great. I don't want to wait, I want to just do the work." If it happens more
that 2 or 3 times, raise it very, very quickly before it becomes an established
pattern.
So remember punctuality works both ways, for the student as well us as tutors.
