A Renovated Farmhouse In Muriwai Originally Built In The 1960s (House Tour)

Описание: This recently renovated Muriwai bungalow became too small for the clients growing family. To meet their needs, we decided on a 50 square metre extension, consisting of a master bedroom, ensuite, office and a larger dining room.

When extending a house from this era, it is important that we carry the characteristics of the existing house through to the new extension.

Externally, we kept the roof pitch and material the same for a seamless flow from old to new. We added timber sills and facings around the new double glazed aluminum joinery to match existing timber joinery.

Internally, we positioned the master bedroom in such a way to capture the beautiful rolling hillsides. To keep things cohesive throughout the house, the ensuite was built with similarities to the recently renovated existing bathroom. We sourced coloured Matai, an extinct NZ native timber, for the dining room floor. This was no easy feat, but was necessary to maintain continuity from old to new.
