This video is to explain about our recent trip to a Lord Murugan Temple and a hill temple of Lord Shiva in the small town of Peraiyur in Madurai district.

There are two temples one at the bottom where the main deity is Lord Murugan. He is called as "SUBRAMANIYASWAMY" this temple of murugan was built in Nayakars rule, and the temple above the mottaimalai peak is for Lord Shiva where the God is named as "MALLIKARJUNA" which is in lingam form. This Sivan Temple is built on 12 th century by the Great PANDIYAS , there are great rock sculptures and rock writings on the mountain.

This small town was called as Kodungolmangalam on those olden days we can find scriptures about some contracts signed by the ruler of the people who lived there.
As per our observation we felt a pleasant vibration at this place, peaceful and Natural beauty this place is surrounded by western Ghats mountains with lots of greenery around there.

This temple is also called as MELAPARANGIRI, inside the temple corridor we can find separate shrines for planatery gods like SUN, SANI and there is a small lingam at the the back side of the murugan sannathi which is named as Kaasi Vishwanathan and another good thing about this temple is we can see cows and calves been raised there which is a great initiative we can feed them with straw and grass which will surely gives you wisdom and peace of mind.
As per the trekking part this is a small mountain with just 600 steps, it is a small hill which everyone can hike and climb, they have provided with steel hand rails upto the top so climbing wouldn't be an issue for anyone.
The SHIVA shrine at the top of the mountain is so beautiful and carries a huge history within it. If you pray there with all your heart you can achieve what you wish for and it is so calm so it is a great place for people to meditate
If you live in Northern part of Tamilnadu the easiest way is to come to Madurai and from there you can take a bus to Peraiyur from there you can easily reach the mountain base, this place is also mentioned in google maps as well if you type "Peraiyur hill" in it you'll be directed to this mountain easily.
This place is safe for women as well so you can come as a family as well.
