Fun Cub 4CH 1100mm EPO RC Airplane Kit from Banggood - Part 1: Unboxing and Initial Impressions

Описание: I am cheap and I like buying and reviewing midsize (i.e. wingspan between 1000-1500mm) RC airplanes that cost less than $100 to get up in the air. This is a particularly important market segment in my opinion, especially for trainer airplanes, because most of the newbies wanting to get into this hobby are not willing to invest more than that. Nevertheless, their first experience is critical in keeping them in the hobby.

Hence, whenever I see a “potential candidate” in this market segment for a reasonable price, I just go ahead and order it. My main goal is to sift through the “duds” in order to get to the “buds”, or in other words to find the gems in the rough. Plus, I extremely enjoy building and flying a wide variety of cheap airplanes; the more the better.

I ordered this airplane kit made of mostly EPO foam from Banggood almost a year ago when it was on sale for $44.94 shipped to my door (on the day I posted this video on YouTube, this kit was out of stock, so I really hope it will be back in stock soon):

The kit came very well packaged in a thick and unmarked cardboard box comes. I could not find a brand or manufacturer information anywhere outside as well as inside of the box. However, the quality of the kit is superb… well, almost, because the vinyl decals do not stick well to the foam and easily peel away. Also, there we no instructions, but if you have assembled RC airplanes before, you should not have much trouble setting up this basic kit. If you are a newbie, then stay tuned by the next episode, which will be covering the parts selection and detailed assembly.

By the way, this airplane can be set up as a basic 4-channel airplane (ailerons, elevator, throttle, rudder) or as a 5-channel airplane with flaps. The wings have slots for flap servos and the foam is outlined where the flaps would be, so it can be cut out and hinged for creating flaps.

In this first episode, I am showing the unboxing of this kit and sharing my first impressions. In the next episode, I am going to cover the detailed assembly to get this kit ready for its maiden flight, so stay tuned!
