অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক নিয়ন্ত্রণে রাজ্যের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আন্তঃদপ্তর বৈঠকের সিদ্ধান্ত

Описание: Antibiotics save lives, but misuse can become one of the biggest threats to public health. Keeping this reality in focus, the West Bengal government will hold a crucial inter-departmental meeting on January 9 to finalize the State Antibiotic Action Plan, aimed at controlling unnecessary antibiotic use and tackling the growing challenge of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

The Fisheries Department plays a key role in this initiative, working alongside health, animal husbandry, environment, and forest departments—reflecting a strong One Health approach that links human health, animal health, and aquatic ecosystems. Excessive antibiotic use in fisheries not only harms fish health but also contributes to drug resistance, food safety risks, and water and environmental pollution.

With clear guidelines and monitoring systems, the new policy aims to promote responsible and sustainable aquaculture in West Bengal. The plan also highlights biological interventions such as guppy fish culture for mosquito control, showcasing the role of fisheries in public health.

The message is clear—
Without responsibility, aquaculture cannot be sustainable.

অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক জীবন বাঁচায়—কিন্তু ভুল ও অতিরিক্ত ব্যবহারে এটি হয়ে উঠতে পারে সবচেয়ে বড় হুমকি। এই বাস্তবতাকে সামনে রেখেই আগামী ৯ জানুয়ারি, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের স্বাস্থ্য দপ্তরের উদ্যোগে বসছে এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আন্তঃদপ্তর বৈঠক, যার লক্ষ্য State Antibiotic Action Plan চূড়ান্ত করা এবং বাড়তে থাকা Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) মোকাবিলা করা।

এই উদ্যোগে বিশেষ গুরুত্ব পাচ্ছে মৎস্য দপ্তর, যা স্বাস্থ্য, পশুপালন, পরিবেশ ও বন দপ্তরের সঙ্গে মিলিতভাবে কাজ করবে—একটি স্পষ্ট “One Health” দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি, যেখানে মানুষ, প্রাণী ও জলজ পরিবেশ একসূত্রে যুক্ত। মৎস্যখাতে অপ্রয়োজনীয় অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক ব্যবহার শুধু মাছের স্বাস্থ্যের ক্ষতি করে না, বরং ড্রাগ রেজিস্ট্যান্স, খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা ঝুঁকি এবং জল–পরিবেশ দূষণের কারণও হয়ে ওঠে।

নতুন নীতির মাধ্যমে গাইডলাইন ও নজরদারি ব্যবস্থা তৈরি হলে, পশ্চিমবঙ্গে আরও দায়িত্বশীল ও টেকসই মাছচাষ সম্ভব হবে। এই পরিকল্পনায় রয়েছে জৈবিক উদ্যোগও—যেমন মশাবাহিত এলাকায় গাপ্পি মাছের চাষ, যা মশা নিয়ন্ত্রণে কার্যকর এবং জনস্বাস্থ্যে মৎস্যখাতের ভূমিকা তুলে ধরে।
