After a LONG, exhausting day yesterday going from the Osaka Japan cruise terminal to Kyoto and racking up almost 30k steps exploring the BEAUTIFUL Kyoto sights, we spent today immersed in Japanese culture in a less physically active way.
We started the day with a short train ride (if you go to Japan, even on a cruise, get comfy with the trains as it opens up MASSIVE amounts of opportunity to do and see more things). Still in the city of Osaka, we had booked a private Japanese cooking class with Studio musubi. Owned and led by the wonderful, Ayumi, we learned about culture, mannerisms, ingredients, and of course how to cook Ramen and Gyoza. This class was so much fun, and it certainly is a win when you get to eat the final product!
We took another short train adventure to a different part of Osaka, and walked through some cute alley streets to find a local ring shop where we booked a ring-making workshop. The workshop is to practice a skill called "tankin" to hammer texture into a ring. This was a cute experience, but wasn't exactly what we expected. It was supposed to be 90 minutes, and it was only about 20. BUT, it was still a cute little excursion. If you do book something of this nature, be prepared as you do still have to buy the metal of your choice for the ring (silver/gold etc. depending on what price you want to spend).
This part of Osaka was filled with very cute, not overly touristy places from cafes, restaurants, shops, and unique things like old (and I mean OLD) arcades. We did grab some coffee (not shown but if you watch our channel, this is an obvious thing that we did), and then enjoyed some very old arcade games before taking a train back to the cruise terminal.
As we head back to the ship, it really sinks in that we're leaving Japan, and already start daydreaming about when we will make it back.
Now to enjoy the Jill & Cody seaday routine for 12 straight days. It's time to get in the groove of morning workouts, some ship activities & shows, playing games (mostly qwirkle which is linked below), enjoying way too much coffee, and of course getting lots of steps in.

We try and make as many videos as we can (daily but not really daily but mostly daily) about the whacky and sometimes totally spontaneous adventures we take. Sometimes we plan out things way in advance and sometimes we have NO clue what we are about to get ourselves into. We also started this so we could watch these videos back in 30 years time to just see how we were. It seems like a good idea!
