This video continues our philosophical introduction to logic, following the classical structure used in Irving M. Copi’s Introduction to Logic.
In this session, we move from the map of logic into Informal Logic, focusing on its core foundational concepts—without symbols, exam tricks, or shortcuts.
We carefully cover:
The place of Informal Logic within the overall structure of logic
Statements and propositions, and the difference between them
What an argument is (in the logical sense)
Premises and conclusions
How to recognize arguments in ordinary language
The difference between arguments and explanations
Enthymemes (arguments with missing parts)
All examples are drawn from ordinary language, keeping the focus on conceptual clarity, not technical formalism.
📌 This series is not exam-oriented. It is designed for anyone who wants to understand logic philosophically and rigorously, whether for philosophy, debate, critical thinking, or intellectual clarity.
▶️ In the next video, we will begin:
Deductive and inductive arguments
Validity, invalidity, and argument strength
