Yeah, I know, the Dead aren’t for everyone. While I pretty much despise the whole Deadhead scene and culture, I do love the music and have since I was a kid. I grew up hearing the Dead a ton thanks to my older brother. Plus, “Touch of Grey”came out as I was discovering all of these bands and really starting to get into music. I was bummed to hear that Bob Weir passed away last week. I’ve been fortunate to see him numerous times and it’s always been a most memorable experience.
This is one of my favorite Grateful Dead tunes. My favorite era of the band is when it was just Bill Kreutzmann on drums. He is truly one of the most under appreciated drummers from that time. He was an absolutely phenomenal drummer and still sounds great today. Listen to Europe ‘72 and you’ll hear why I feel this way about him. Incredible feel, technique, and creativity!
