The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash in the ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled for February 15, has taken a dramatic turn after Pakistan decided to boycott the match. Reacting to the development, India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav made it clear that India has never refused to play Pakistan and is fully prepared for the contest.
Suryakumar Yadav said Team India’s mindset is clear — they are ready to play, their flights are booked, and the team will travel to Colombo after Delhi, waiting for Pakistan on February 15. He added that Pakistan’s decision is beyond his control and that India has been informed about playing a match on that date, just like they did multiple times during the Asia Cup.
The Indian captain also spoke about the dew factor, saying it is not something teams can control and that India is comfortable batting first as well as chasing. He addressed Washington Sundar’s fitness update, Tilak Varma’s break, and highlighted the positive dressing-room culture created under head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Agha clarified that the decision to play or boycott India is not in the team’s control and rests with the Pakistan government and PCB. He also stated that if India and Pakistan face each other again in the knockout stages, Pakistan will follow the same government directive. Agha acknowledged Pakistan’s loss to the USA in the previous World Cup, calling it history, and expressed excitement about leading Pakistan in his first T20 World Cup as captain.
