Описание: In this first of two videos of the Log Replacement steps of the Ozark Log Cabin Restoration, Matt McCraw explains each step in detail from (1) the obvious and not so obvious ways of finding logs with rot, through (2) removing the decayed logs, including the following:
1. Methods of identifying logs with internal rot,
2. Guidance in how to locate hidden hazards such as electrical wiring, gas lines, and log screws and spikes prior to cutting into the logs to avoid injury to workers and damage to wiring, gas lines, and equipment,
3. How to properly cut out rotten logs, including when and how to install bracing to (a) support the log home, (b) take the pressure off the decayed logs being removed, and (c) provide the room needed to install the replacement logs, and
4. After the decayed logs are removed, carefully inspect wood members adjacent to the rotten logs, such as floor joists in this case. When additional rot is discovered, make the necessary repairs or replacements to remove the rotten portions of these previously hidden wood members and provide the needed support to the log home before installing the replacement logs.
