Slow living is a choice, one that isn’t always easy. When we embrace seasonality, accept this lifestyle‘s limitations, and begin to let go of our need to be accepted and understood, we can experience a true joy and freedom.
In this video, we work to restore two old picnic baskets we discovered in the dusty eaves of an antique shop. Though one of them had a lovely aged patina, we did have to remove some of it to treat the mildew, mold, and deep layers of grime that had been left by the decades. Now they are food-safe and ready for a lifetime of new memories.
On our picnic by the waters of Tomales Bay, at Heart’s Desire Beach in Inverness, California, we enjoy:
Pickled shrimp and heirloom tomatoes on sourdough
Pesto Pasta salad with cherry tomatoes and basil from the garden
Almond butter and blueberry jam sandwiches on brioche, made with blueberries we picked earlier in the season.
French pink lemonade and non-alcoholic German rosé Riesling
