Jackpot Canal Rocks in Canada! Post cleaning. Time to sort which goes where!

These were found beside a path that ran parallel to a canal (or a big ditch? I don’t know the technical term for it). Even though I found them in Alberta Canada, they may have imported them from anywhere? I’ve heard that we get a bit from the east coast? Is that true?

The different piles were: polish, keep as is (art?),Rock garden, Rock library and a “You tell me pile”. I usually have a few that I want to crack right away. That’s where I just bust em open to see what’s inside! I don’t have the heavy tools to slice them open nicely.

I do all this for my mental health! I find the looking for the rocks almost EMDR-like. And then the routines of washing, checking with a magnet, using a UV light, learning about them (when I can trust Google lens… which is about 50% of the times) polishing or making something with them and sharing! And I find cool rocks everywhere! Streams, riverbeds, parking lots, gardens… I seem to always have my eyes to the ground ;) It grounds me and gives my brain time to shut off but at the same time find something awesome in what might have been a dirty little pebble.
