Thousands of Romanians have formed a human chain around Parliament to protest against plans by a Canadian firm to set up Europe's biggest open-cast gold mine.
Gabriel Resources would use cyanide to extract 314 tonnes of gold and 1,500 tonnes of silver from the Carpathian Mountain region.
