Topic - focal spot (x- ray tube )

It is an area of the anode surface which receives a beam of electron from the cathode filament.

It depends on

1) filament coil ( dimension )
2 focusing cup ( dimention )
3) position of the filament in the focusing cup.
4) The electric field created between cathode and anode.

It influence -:
1) image sharpness-:

Image sharpness is inversely proportional to focal spot.

2) heat dissipation :-

Heat dissipation is directly proportional to focal spot.

Line focus principle "it is state that effective focal spot is always smaller than the actual focal Spot"

Anode angle -: it is defined as an angle of the target surface with respect to the central Ray in the X-ray field.

It influence -:

1) Effective focal spot-:

Effective focal spot is directly proportional to another angle.

2) anode heel effect-:

It state that the intensity of X-Ray beam is greater towards the cathode side in comparison to the anode side.
