China has landed a spacecraft on the far side of the moon for a second time. The Chang’e-6 will soon start collecting rock samples from the oldest lunar basin to bring back to Earth. China National Space Administration said the lander successfully touched down in the northeastern part of the moon’s South Pole-Aitken basin at 6.23am Beijing time on June 2, 2024. The previous Chinese mission surprised scientists by bringing back rocks that were much younger than samples collected by previous US and Soviet missions.
