A few comments were asking how to hookup an iPad over USB to midi in on the Akai MPC. This should work for any Midi equipped hardware. I used the Apple USB C to USB adaptor, and the Roland USB Midi Interface UM-ONE. I am sure other devices/adaptors will work as long as they are compatible with your iPad (or iPhone).
To do this you will need:
a USB C (or lightning) to USB adapter
a USB to Midi interface
Easy right?
